Using Sumi-e Technique, India Ink and Bamboo Brushes

Students learned about the rich history of Chinese brush painting and practiced a variety of techniques using a bamboo brush and ink.

I can create the illusion of space in an artwork by:

·    Creating foreground, middleground and background.

·    Using overlapping throughout the work.

·    Using a variety of values (light to dark to create atmospheric perspective.)

·    Using more detail in the foreground.

·    Appropriately placing objects on the surface.

·    Using larger objects in the foreground and smaller objects in the background.
