About Ms. Newman

Miss Newman is a lifetime lover of art in all forms.

As a child, I was enthralled with creating, dancing and making music. I spent hours sprawled out on the kitchen floor adorning butcher paper with layers and layers of crayon. I vividly remember speculating the artwork my parents hung on the walls in my home, and I seemed to always had in mind
something I wanted to create myself. The influences in my artwork throughout my life have always been derived from everything I see, feel, hear and experience. What better way to live this passion than teaching?!  I believe that artists view the world differently-- thoughtfully.  This thoughtful awareness of the world, a visual culture, is a necessity for all.

My affinity for creativity and the beautiful details and textures of every day life endured through high school and college as I worked to develop my portfolio to unwaveringly pursue a career as an educator. As an Art Education student at the University of Kansas, I emphasized in metalsmithing and jewelry while also painting and sculpting prolifically on the side.  I managed to minor in dance too, as it is another lifelong passion of mine. I teach ballet classes to elementary aged children after teaching in the art classroom by day, cultivating artful learning and creativity for K-5th graders.
